What You Will Do
- Support the Workshop Manager in daily workshop operations
- Allocate work to mechanics and technicians and track repairs and servicing so jobs finish on time and to standard
- Coordinate preventive maintenance, scheduled servicing and breakdown repairs for trucks and trailers
- Help keep vehicles roadworthy and available
- Inspect trailers including brakes, suspension, tyres and lighting
- Assist with diagnosing diesel and drivetrain faults and guiding workshop staff
- Supervise, motivate and develop staff
- Keep job cards and service, inspection and repair records up to date
- Uphold safety, roadworthiness, productivity and cost-control standards
Requirements
- A qualified Diesel Mechanic, preferably with a recognised trade test
- 3–4 years of management or supervisory experience in a workshop, fleet-maintenance or transport setting
- Proven heavy-vehicle fleet and workshop experience and practical truck and trailer experience
- Strong diesel, repair, preventive-maintenance and fault-finding knowledge
- Organised, hands-on leadership with planning, problem-solving and communication skills
Experience in road freight/logistics, heavy-duty and commercial trailers, job-card and maintenance-budget control, spare parts and preventive-maintenance systems is advantageous.
